 RECITAL BY DESIGN®

A recital planning system for dance studio owners who want stronger retention, happier parents, and a better-planned season.

Recital By Design® helps dance studio owners plan short, purposeful performances for preschool through Grade 2 using a Backwards By Design approach. Instead of starting with costumes, music, or last-minute choreography, studio owners begin with the desired outcome: confident students, satisfied parents, clear curriculum goals, and stronger fall retention.

Design the recital. Retain the family. Grow the studio.

What It Is

Recital By Design® is a planning seminar and studio growth system for dance studio owners, directors, and early childhood faculty teams. It focuses on creating Mini-Vents® — short, age-appropriate recital experiences for preschool through Grade 2 that include approximately ten routines and are planned around curriculum, parent experience, and retention.

Who It Is For

This program is designed for:

Dance studio owners
Studio directors
Preschool and early childhood dance teachers
Faculty teams planning the next season
Studios that want better retention after recital
Studios that want shorter, more organized children’s performances

What You Will Learn

1. Profitable Retention Strategy

Learn how to use your recital as more than an end-of-year show or early fall. Your recital can become your strongest parent loyalty and re-enrollment opportunity.

2. Know Your Demographics

Understand what today’s preschool and elementary dance families need, expect, and value.

3. Backwards By Design Planning

Begin with the outcome you want, then build the season, curriculum, music, choreography, parent communication, and recital experience around that goal.

4. Props, Formations, and Choreography

Create age-appropriate routines that are simple, organized, and successful for young dancers.

5. Early Childhood Through Grade 2 Support

Plan performances that match the attention span, developmental level, and learning needs of young children.

6. Marketing With AI

Use simple AI tools to help create recital descriptions, parent communication, promotional posts, and follow-up marketing.
